“Biomimicry is a practice that draws inspiration from and imitates nature’s strategies to solve human design problems and find hope” – The Institute of Biomimicry
From the kingfisher bird that inspired a new generation of more efficient and quieter high-speed trains to the burdock flower that inspired Velcro, nature, 3.8 billion years ahead of man, has been the source of many innovations. Biomimicry is an approach that draws inspiration from nature rather than simply learning from it. Over the course of the year, we will approach design problems from this angle, listening, observing and reconnecting with the wisdom of nature: asking ourselves “how does nature solve this problem?” With hands-on STEAM lessons, this course is an introduction to IT through the lens of nature, offering children tangible solutions and an optimistic vision for the future of our planet. We will observe experiments and build meaningful projects, using our hands and our computers, while having fun of course!
