General conditions

1. Timetable

School days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 (8:45 from 3yo to 2th grade) am to 3:30 pm, and from 5th grade Wednesday morning from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm.

 

2. Attendance

The family undertakes that the child will attend school on a regular basis and participate in all pedagogical and educational activities, camps and school trips included. Arriving and departing on time from school is compulsory. When parents are late picking up their child, additional fees apply.

 

3. Absences 

Absences from school should be exceptional and be justified and reported to the teacher and the office

 

4. Family-School relations

Child development is essential to us, therefore parents cooperation is part of the school project. They are expected to participate in class meetings, school celebrations and other events. They should attend tripartite meetings with the teacher and the pupil. The aim of such meetings is to assess the child’s academic and social skills.

 

5. Communication 

Most information is shared during class or school meetings and also by email, through the Parents-portal, the La Découverte Application or via the Website.

 

6. School rules

The social life of the school is governed by our “School Rules” and their annexes. The document « Pour vivre agréablement à La Découverte » is available for families per request at the office.

 

7. Publications

The school reserves the right to publish photos and videos of the children internally, including the school newspaper, blog, etc.

 

The school reserves the right to pass on the class list, including e-mail addresses, telephone numbers and postal addresses of partners, to parents of the same class or of any other group activities (afterschool care, extra-curricular activities, etc.).

 

The school reserves the right to pass on the e-mail addresses of parents of children at the school to the school Parents’ Association Committee.

 

8. Registration

Registration is confirmed upon receipt of the registration form signed.

In the event of non-payment of the registration fees and the advance payment of the first month according to the due dates of the related invoices, the school reserves the right to dispose of the place.

 

The registration fee is non-refundable.

9. Re-registration

The re-registration is confirmed upon receipt of the re-registration form signed.

However, if the 1st month’s tuition for the following year is not paid in advance by the due date of the relevant invoice, the school reserves the right to dispose of the place.

 

10. Rates 

Rates conditions regarding annual fees are stipulated in the registration or re-registration form for the relevant school year and are integral part of these general conditions. Enrolment/re-enrolment is financially binding for the full year, except in cases covered by article 11.

Any delay in payment of over 2 months could lead to the school not accepting the pupil in class.

 

11. Cancellation conditions and sanction

In the event of withdrawal

  • before March 31 for the following school year, only the enrolment fee is due.
  • between April 1 for the following school year and the start of the new school year, the enrolment fee and 3 months’ school fees are due.
  • from the start of the school year, the entire school year is due.

In the event of a student’s withdrawal from the current school year, the annual financial commitment may be waived for the following reasons:

  • death of the pupil’s legal guardian
  • long-term illness involving discontinuation of studies
  • the family having to leave the area
  • expulsion from the school on serious grounds

In these particular cases, tuition fees will be due for two months in addition to the months that have already been completed.

 

12. E-learning

In the case of events involving a temporary closure of the School (maximum one school year and/or ten months of closure), La Découverte provides distance learning for its students as soon as possible. The management and/or the authorities are the only bodies competent to decree the closure of the school. In such a case, the tuition remains entirely due, and no discount is granted, regardless of the E-learning services offered.

 

13. Damaged caused to furniture or to the building

Any damage caused by the child to the furniture or to the building itself will be paid by parents.

 

These general conditions serve as a contract between parents and La Découverte School. It may not be terminated at any time except in cases stipulated Under article 11.

 

The undersigned has read und understood the General Conditions and undertakes to respect them.
